We
have many steep hills around Lynton and Lynmouth. Tackled sensibly they
are nothing to feel worried about.
Lynton Tourist Information Centre has many detailed maps of the area. Your motoring organisation should be able to advise you on routes but failing that please contact us.
Make sure your vehicle is in good condition. Select a low gear for long
descents and do not use your brakes for too long. A short stab on the brakes
should be all that is needed if you have selected the correct gear.
Failure to follow these procedures may result in your brake linings catching
fire and, even worse, your being unable to stop when required.
Lynmouth Hill (B3234) is not suitable for caravans and heavy vehicles with limited manoeuvrability. Please use Watersmeet Road (A39) and take care on the bends.
Experience the indescribable magic of "Little Switzerland" on this scenic drive.
