martinhoe
Moorlands, a late 19th century gentleman's residence,
was built by the late Colonel Lake and later opened as the Station
Hotel serving customers on the old narrow gauge railway from Lynton to
Barnstaple. The old house now sits in private grounds of some 6 acres
of garden surrounded by Exmoor countryside. More recent additions
include a residents bar and an outdoor swimming pool, making Moorlands
the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and quiet break, away from the
hustle and bustle of town life.
Accommodation
Open all year, apart from Christmas, the accommodation is comfortable and quiet with large double and single bedded rooms, one with a second double bedroorn suitable for a third adult or children. All rooms are en suite with bath/shower, colour television and beverage making facilities. Our bar and dining room are open daily with evening meals prepared and served by arrangement, guests are encouraged to enjoy a relaxed evening meal with open log fire and soft music, and maybe a bottle or two of wine
Surrounding area
Surrounded by arable farm land and wild moor the house sits almost 1000 feet above sea level although only 2 miles from the coast. The local coast path is some of the most dramatic and beautiful on the coast of England. Horse riding, tennis, golf and fishing are all available in the immediate area, and of course Exmoor is there to explore by foot, car or pony.
