upper cottageThe Upper Cottage is one of a pair of large semi detached cottages on the very edge of the Town Centre in the popular holiday resort of Lynton; it is a large 3 bedroom property which will sleep 6 to 8 people.
The property has been carefully and lovingly restored by the present owners who bought it in 2008 and have spent the last 3 years carefully converting it into 2 well appointed cottages. The property was originally built in 1850 when it was opened as a place of worship for the people of Lynton. However, when the Towns’ well known benefactor George Newnes, built the current church at the turn of the century, the Old Chapel went through various different guises as a school and latterly the first Lynton and Lynmouth Cinema. In the 1960’s the property was converted into a ground floor workshop with a 1st floor 3 bedroom flat, but in 2008 the property was in desperate need of repair and modernisation which has resulted in the extensive conversion and renovation work which has now been undertaken. The cottages have been restored with the environment in mind and each now include a new central heating system which utilises an air source heat pump and a “whole house” heat recovery ventilation system. The beds and furnishings are new and very comfortable and the kitchen is beautifully appointed with new domestic appliances. Both the cottages are deceptively spacious and whilst groups of 6 or less are preferred, the cottage can accommodate sleeping 8 people by use of the futon in the lounge which can be folded down to provide an extra bed.

Externally there is an enclosed rear terrace complete with picnic set which is accessed off the 1st floor kitchen or the rear passage way. There is also a parking space for one family sized car below the covered car port. A further space may be made available by arrangement.

The 2nd floor comprises of a large lounge with dormer windows looking out across Exmoor, complete with Satellite HD Free-Sat TV, DVD player, wood burning stove.The property has Wi-Fi installed.
