picture Set in the splendour of the Barle Valley, Simonsbath House stood alone for over 150 years before the small hamlet of Simonsbath developed in the 19th Century. This 350 year old house retains many of the wonderful features of yesteryear yet still provides a comfortable and cosy place to stay.

With all rooms having picture postcard views of the Barle Valley you can sit and relax whilst planning your next walk along the banks of this picturesque river. Alternatively take a drive to some of the well known parts of Exmoor and its surrounding coast. Just 7 miles will take you to the stunning beauty of Watersmeet on the East Lyn river or follow the road further into Lynmouth with the cliff side railway connecting the town to Lynton. From here you can walk easily to the Valley of the Rocks or you can go further to Woody Bay Heddon's Mouth and the infamous Hunters Inn. Alternatively the coastal resorts of Minehead, Ilfracombe and Croyde Bay are all within a short drive.

Most people come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Exmoor, exploring the beautiful countryside either on foot or by car. Simonsbath House offers the ideal base and we are pleased to suggest suitable walks and areas of interest to visit.

We are proud to offer seven individually decorated bedrooms all with en-suite bath and shower facilities, with stunning views of the valley. The rooms all have colour televisions, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray containing coffee and tea with biscuits and mineral water.

Our spacious non smoking restaurant provides the perfect setting for you to enjoy your meals. Breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9.30am and dinner orders are taken in the lounge between 7pm and 8.30pm. We are pleased to offer accommodation on either a bed and breakfast or half board basis.

The Simonsbath House Hotel with its outstanding views of the Barle valley is reputedly the oldest house in Exmoor Forest.  It was completed in 1654 by James Boevey the first freehold owner of Exmoor.  The house has a fascinating history .It has been in turn an inn, a private school and a country house retreat during the time of the Fortescue family.

Many of the original features remain including the solid oak front door and the old kitchen fireplace with the date 1654 engraved on the lintel.  Now the hotel boasts a comfortable country house retreat with seven individually decorated bedrooms all with en suite facilities and stunning views of the valley.

The hotel offers a comfortable lounge with an open wood-burning fire for those wishing to sit and read or relax, a cosy bar with a wide range of malt whiskeys and a spacious non-smoking dining-room.

The à la carte menu costs £28.50 per person and booking is recommended.  Room rates start at £89 for bed and full English breakfast.  Superior rooms with four poster beds at £99 per room.  The hotel offers reduced rates for single occupancy.  Pets welcome.
