SIMONSBATH HOUSE HOTEL

The Simonsbath House Hotel with its outstanding views of the
Barle valley is reputedly the oldest house in Exmoor Forest. It was
completed in 1654 by James Boevey the first freehold owner of Exmoor. The
house has a fascinating history .It has been in turn an inn, a private school
and a country house retreat during the time of the Fortescue family. |
| Many of the original features remain including the solid oak
front door and the old kitchen fireplace with the date 1654 engraved on the
lintel. Now the hotel boasts a comfortable country house retreat with
seven individually decorated bedrooms all with en suite facilities and stunning
views of the valley. |

The hotel offers a comfortable lounge with an open wood-burning
fire for those wishing to sit and read or relax, a cosy bar with a wide range of
malt whiskeys and a spacious non-smoking dining-room. |
| The à la carte menu costs £28.50 per person and booking is
recommended. Room rates start at £89 for bed and full English
breakfast. Superior rooms with four poster beds at £99 per room.
The hotel offers reduced rates for single occupancy. Pets welcome. |
