The Location
Just below the hamlet of Martinhoe, this row of three delightful
cottages is set in a small private country estate, which overlooks the deep
Heddon Valley. The densely wooded valley is situated on the Western edge of the
Exmoor National Park and is close to some of the most beautiful and dramatic
coastal scenery in Britain. Whilst the final access to the estate is via steep
and winding lanes which preserve its privacy and feeling of remoteness, there
are both villages and towns within just a few miles. The closest village being Parracombe,
3 miles, Lynton and Lynmouth are 6 miles along the coast to the east, Combe Martin
6 miles to the west. Further afield, Barnstaple, North Devon's bustling market
town, is 16 miles away. The A361 Link Road that joins onto the M5 starts 18
miles away.
The Cottages
These were originally built 30 years ago on the site of a former stable
block. They are now refurbished to a very high standard to cater for 2 people
each. They share a car park, with room for 5 vehicles, situated opposite the
building and a communal utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and
drying rack. There is also a payphone.
Chauffeurs Cottage
From the front door you step into the sitting room with dining area, from
which leads the separate, fitted kitchen. This is equipped with electric double
oven, ceramic induction hob, .fridge with icebox, and dishwasher, plus all the
usual kitchen paraphernalia. Also leading off the sitting room is the front facing
double bedroom with en suite bathroom. This generous sized bathroom has bath,
large walk-in shower, WC. and wash basin.
Gamekeepers Cottage
Again from the front door into the sitting/dining room, the kitchen is off to
the left and is front facing. It is equipped with electric double oven, ceramic
induction hob, fridge with icebox, and dishwasher To the rear of the cottage is
the bedroom, which has both a double and single bed. Opposite is the bathroom,
with twin wash basins, bath with shower over, bidet and W C. From the sitting
room a spiral staircase leads up to an outside balcony and small study
room.
Gardeners Cottage
Once more the front door takes you into the sitting room with dining area,
from which leads the separate fitted kitchen. This is equipped with electric double
oven, ceramic induction hob, fridge with icebox. and dishwasher. Also leading
off the sitting room is the front facing bedroom, which is twin bedded, with en
suite bathroom. The spacious bathroom has bath, large walk-in shower, W C. and
wash basin. All of the cottages have central heating throughout, televisions/videos,
radios and private water supply.
Dogs
We are happy for you to bring your dog with you but, we do appreciate it if
they are not left unattended in the cottages at any time, as even the nicest
have been known to misbehave. Whilst the gardens are not suitable for
exercising dogs, there is a large field up behind the cottages which you are
most welcome to use.
