When you can bear to leave such beauty and tranquillity we are an excellent base for touring, with Exmoor to our south and the magnificent coastline to east and west. The famous `Valley of Rocks' that you see from your window, across the Bay, Lynton and Lynmouth, Watersmeet and `Lorna Doone' county. Arlington Court, a lovely National Trust Property, once home of the Chichesters, ancient churches, picturesque villages and interesting craft shops will delightfully fill your time.
Guests interested in bird watching will enjoy the delightful variety of bird life; in particular, part of the Martinhoe cliffs (designated an S.S.S.I.) which is famous for its Kittiwake colony and for the Razorbills, Guillemots, Cormorants and Shags, all of which breed here. Wild flower enthusiasts will find much to delight them, for with such an extensive variety of habitat as Exmoor affords, and extraordinary rich plant life abounds. Collectors of rocks and Minerals will also be richly rewarded by a little investigation of the area; and all will surely be thrilled by a glimpse of red deer or peregrine falcon.
