MARTINHOE MANORWoody Bay
Martinhoe Manor occupies a unique and spectacularly beautiful setting in an area famous for its outstanding scenic beauty. The Manor House stands in its own 26 acres of secluded and private grounds. The Manor naturally commands the most breathtaking views. Nestling on a little plateau above the sea, encircled by the magnificently wooded amphitheatre that is Woody Bay; this situation, so carefully chosen those hundreds of years ago, gives us our enviable micro-climate of very mild weather. We have fig trees which bear fruit twice yearly and camellias which bloom in January - out of doors!
Martinhoe Manor, steeped in ancient history, is a lovely mellow house having reached its present day proportions over a span of several hundred years. It has a fascinating and chequered history and we hope to have the opportunity to recount to you some of the history and legends that have grown with the Manor and the Bay.
The Manor House has now been skilfully adapted into completely self-contained self-catering apartments. The House is fronted by a broad terrace onto which some rooms open directly and most overlook and enjoy the ever - changing panorama of the Bay - from the early morning sparkle of sun on the sea, to the fiery hue of the cliffs as the sun sets. Step onto the terrace with your early morning tea - a most agreeable way to start the day.
